Spring has sprung! What does that mean for buzzy bees? 

When temperatures hit a steady 50+ degrees, life for bees starts to heat up. Join us for a deep dive into the world of mason,  leafcutter, and honey bees, with  panelists Dave Hunter (founder of Crown Bees), Guillermo Fernandez (TBC’s own founder and Chief Melittologist), and host Rebecca Louie (TBC’s Executive Director).

We’ll discuss the lifecycle of colony and cavity-dwelling bees over the winter and what happens when they emerge into a busy, buzzy spring. Plus, we’ll note a few impactful, easy steps you can take to support the bees (including ground nesters!) in your garden and neighborhood all year long.

Guillermo Fernandez
The Bee Conservancy

Founder and Chief Melittologist
Guillermo is a Master Beekeeper, Master Melittology candidate, and an urban beekeeper for a decade. Having grown up in a food desert, he believes bees are the key to transforming our food system and ensuring that everyone has access to healthy, local foods. When he’s not at the apiary or speaking at an event, Guillermo is hiking or traveling.

Dave Hunter
Crown Bees

Dave Hunter is the founder and owner of Crown Bees, whose vision is simple: help gardeners and farmers increase pollination and food production with responsibly managed solitary bees. He’s accomplished this goal by collaborating with researchers to set the standards for best practices in solitary beekeeping and teaching people how to successfully raise these bees in their backyards and grow fresh, healthy food!
