Pollinators In The Park
September 17, 2022 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

The Bee Conservancy is headed to Seward Park!
There are 4,000+ bee species in North America, and 400+ alone in New York state! Join The Bee Conservancy’s founder, Master Beekeeper and Chief Melitollogist, Guillermo Fernandez as he leads a nature walk and discusses native bees — including mason, leafcutter, carpenter, and bumble bees — and their habitats right inside of Seward Park, in Manhattan’s Chinatown neighborhood.
We’ll also dive into:
- Low cost and easy ways to support NYC’s most beneficial and hardworking pollinators.
- How to distinguish bees from wasps and other look-alikes.
- Opportunities to engage in community science
- Identifying native plants

About The Hosts

The Bee Conservancy
Founder and Chief Melittologist
Guillermo is a Master Beekeeper, Master Melittology candidate, and an urban beekeeper for a decade. Having grown up in a food desert, he believes bees are the key to transforming our food system and ensuring that everyone has access to healthy, local foods. When he’s not at the apiary or speaking at an event, Guillermo is hiking or traveling.

This event is hosted by Seward Park Conservancy, which is run by local board members and volunteers who dedicate their time to preserving this bustling NYC public green space and pollinator garden in the Lower East Side.
